Since 2000, Mr. Carrillo has co-founded and has been a partner of Silicon Valley Advisors, a San Jose-based land use consulting firm providing real estate consulting, government relations and strategic land use planning services to advice to many private entities and developers in Arizona and the Bay Area. In 2005, Mr. Carrillo became Founder and Senior Partner of Legislative Leadership Group, LLC, providing a full range of legislative and strategic planning services for a diverse base of clients.
In 1984, Mr. Carrillo began his public policy career as Chief Policy Advisor to former San Jose Vice-Mayor and current Santa Clara County Supervisor Blanca Alvarado. In 1992, Mr. Carrillo became the Founding President and Chief Executive Officer of the Mexican Heritage Corporation. Using his extensive experience in government relations, strategic and land use planning, Mr. Carrillo successfully spearheaded a $35 million capital campaign to build the Mexican Heritage Plaza, a nationally recognized arts and culture center.
He has served on two significant master planning committees for the City of San Jose dealing with
housing, commercial and retail development. In 1994, Mr. Carrillo won election to serve on the Santa
Clara County Open Space Authority. He also served on the Governing Board of the West
Valley Mission Community College District.
He is a former member of the San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau, current member of the Silicon Valley Latino Democratic Club, current member of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, and member of the Hispanic Political Action Committee of Silicon Valley. Mr. Carrillo is a graduate of the University of San Francisco with a B.A. in Public Administration.
